Allscripts Healthcare's Sunrise EHR Platform Expansion on Track - Analyst Blog

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. MDRX continues to strengthen and diversify its Allscripts Sunrise platform which provides a complete range of fully integrated inpatient, ambulatory, emergency care and surgical care solutions to electronic health record (EHR) clients.

Allscripts recently upgraded the Sunrise Surgical Care enterprise-wide solution in May to meet the distinct IT needs of surgery, preoperative and postoperative care. By providing a continuous, patient-level record, the platform helps to improve surgical outcomes as well as financial and operational efficiencies.

Allscripts launched the latest version of Sunrise Ambulatory Care, which is designed to enhance operational efficiency through every stage of care and administration for inpatient and outpatient capabilities. With enhanced features and improved performance, it provides a comprehensive solution to support the ambulatory setting.

Powered with the innovative technology of a Microsoft SQL platform, Allscripts Sunrise allows clients to create complex protocols and workflows to be deployed across all care settings. It provides a platform for optimized decision support and improved patient and financial outcomes.

The Allscripts Sunrise suite comprises Allscripts Sunrise Ambulatory Care, Allscripts Sunrise Emergency Care and Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care. In addition to the suite of open platform solutions, Allscripts offers Sunrise Patient Portal, Sunrise Clinician Portal and Sunrise Mobile MD II.

Since Jan 2013, there have been 23 new Allscripts Sunrise commitments at existing client facilities or at new organizations globally. Building on the popularity of the Allscripts Sunrise platform, its clients are transforming towards value-based healthcare.  

In Apr 2014, IA-based Shenandoah Medical Center opted to deploy select Allscripts Sunrise EHR solutions to facilitate the transition to value-based care. It also installed Allscripts Sunrise Financial Manager – an integrated financial management solution that helps drive efficiencies, boost revenues and improve margins across the enterprise.

In Nov 2013, Allscripts extended its partnership with Montefiore Health System for implementation of its EHR solutions at the latter's recently-acquired New Rochelle and Mount Vernon hospitals in New York. Per the deal, Allscripts would upgrade the operations at the hospitals with its Allscripts Sunrise 6.1 Integrated EHR, Sunrise Clinical Analytics, Sunrise Radiology, and Sunrise Laboratory as well as Allscripts FollowMyHealth patient engagement solution.

In Oct 2013, PA-based Heritage Valley Health System implemented Allscripts Sunrise suite at its Beaver and Sewickley campus. Within three months of the installation, Heritage Valley Health System successfully attested for Meaningful Use stage 1.

Earlier in the same month, CA-based non-profit healthcare provider PIH Health chose Allscripts Sunrise suite as the EHR system for its 199-bed care facility in Downey, known as PIH Health Hospital. In order to extend relationship with MDRX, PIH Health also added licenses for additional products and services and extended its enterprise-wide hosting and managed services contract with Allscripts till 2020.

With the growing success and popularity of its Allscripts Sunrise platform, the company intends to provide continued integrated population health management solutions to help hospitals drive proactive and responsive patient care across all settings.
