Truck companies have been outperforming the S&P. However, their performance has recently cooled down a bit. Jason Seidl, transportation analyst with Dahlman Rose, gave his opinion to CNBC.
“If you look at the spot rate for the truckload carriers, it started the year at about $1.24; it finished the first quarter at $1.70 and in June, we’re at over $2 a mile right now,” he told CNBC. Seidl said that rates are rising due to carriers exiting the market and the improvement in the economy.
