Hearing Chatter Cerberus Capital Seeking to Acquire Supervalue

The Rumor:
Cerberus Capital is seeking to acquire 100% of Supervalu (NYSE: SVU) and merge its operations with Albertson's, according to sources reporting on Friday. Supervalu announced last month it was undergoing a strategic review process.

In addition to Cerberus, KKR (NYSE: KKR) has expressed interest in acquiring parts of the business, including the Save-A-Lot Brand, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Supervalu closed at $3.18 Friday, a loss of 2.45% on 1.5 times average volume.
