The tobacco stocks have been one of the year's strongest performers, and today is no exception, logging gains of 1% or more in many of the stocks in the sector.

LO has been the stalwart of the group, gaining 36% year to date. So far, the stock is up another $2.02 to $111.87 today, a gain of 1.8% on the session. Altria
MO shares are up 10.6% year to date, and are up over 1% on the session. Philip Morris International
PM shares are up 17.33% so far this year, and are gaining another 1.7% today. Reynolds American
RAI shares are up 17% so far in 2011, and like its smoking brethren the stock is up today as well. At last check, shares were up 1.7% today.
