Globalstar, Inc. (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/gsat#NYSE">GSAT</a>) shares are up 6.3 percent on Friday after the <a href="http://www.globalstar.com/en/index.php?cid=7010&amp;pressId=952">company reported</a> that the Federal Communications Commission has adopted a Report and Order based on Globalstar&rsquo;s recently-submitted revised proposal to use satellite signal frequencies to distribute its mobile broadband services. According to a company press release, the FCC&rsquo;s newly-adopted rules will make more broadband spectrum available to U.S. consumers.
&ldquo;We thank the Commissioners, their staff and the staff of the Bureaus and Offices who worked tirelessly to bring this proceeding to a successful conclusion,&rdquo; CEO Jay Monroe said in a statement. &ldquo;We look forward to a busy 2017 as we plan to put our terrestrial authority to use for American consumers and pursue similar authority internationally.&rdquo;
Earlier this year, the FCC rejected Globalstar&rsquo;s <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/16/12/8821800/globalstar-gets-big-bump-following-fcc-news">original proposal</a> on the grounds that the company would gain a special competitive advantage over rivals. However, Globalstar submitted a revised proposal on November 9 that the company says &ldquo;provides significant protections to adjacent operations.&rdquo;
It now appears as if the FCC has approved Globalstar&rsquo;s technology.

Hearing Chatter of Ancestry.com Receiving NDA's from Private Equity Firms

The Rumor: Ancestry.com (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/acom#NASDAQ">ACOM</a>) has received NDA's from Private Equity firms, according to dealReporter. On June 6, Bloomberg reported the online genealogy company had hired Qatalyst Partners to find a buyer.

A spokesperson for Ancestry.com said they were aware of the rumor, but would not comment. 

Ancestry.com closed at $25.99 Monday, a loss of 1.20% on slightly more than average volume.

The Deal: Mercury Computer Systems (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/mrcy#NASDAQ">MRCY</a>) announced Monday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Micronetics (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/noiz#NASDAQ">NOIZ</a>).

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Mercury will acquire Micronetics via merger for $14.80 per share. This represents a fully diluted equity value of approximately $71.7 million and an enterprise value of approximately $75.4 million, including $3.7 million of net debt as of March 31, 2012. The acquisition will be funded with available cash and is expected to be immediately accretive to EBITDA. Subject to finalization of purchase accounting, the transaction is also anticipated to be accretive on a GAAP basis within 12 months of the closing date.

Micronetics closed at $14.59 Monday, a gain of 94.79% on 409 times the average daily volume.

Yippy and MuseGlobal to Merge

The Deal: Yippy (<a class="ticker" href="/stock/yipi#">YIPI</a>) reported Monday that the Company entered into an agreement to merge with MuseGlobal. 

Yippy.com is an award-winning deep research engine developed out of Carnegie Mellon University. The programs were acquired by Yippy in May 2010 from Vivisimo, an industry leading Enterprise Search company that was recently acquired (May 2012) by International Business Machines. In conjunction with the purchase of the search engine software, Yippy acquired from Vivisimo/IBM a transferable, unlimited lifetime perpetual license for the software known as Velocity for web-based search applications. IBM currently holds a 10% stake in Yippy, Inc. 

Yippy closed at $1.86 on Monday, a gain of 57.63% on 6 times the average daily volume.

(OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/yipi#OTC">YIPI</a>) reports that it has entered into a strategic partnership with HighBeam Research and Encyclopedia.com, part of Cengage Learning, a global provider of innovative teaching, learning and research solutions. Initial focus of the arrangement will be on exposure of HighBeam Research and Encyclopedia.com content on Yippy.com as well as revenue sharing opportunities between the two companies. 

Partnership terms include: 

Yippy, Inc. will provide prominent exposure for HighBeam Research on Yippy.com. HighBeam Research will provide Yippy users full-text content access to HighBeam Research results. 


Yippy will display Encyclopedia.com results with top reference placement above Wikipedia.com should semantic term(s) permit for K12 products. 


This arrangement applies across Yippy's desktop, tablet and the new mobile application. 


Both parties have agreed to a revenue sharing approach that will be mutually beneficial.

Yippy, Inc. (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/yipi#OTC">YIPI</a>) reports that Marc Bigelow has formally accepted the appointment as President &amp; CEO of Yippy, Inc. Marc is 53 years old and has served with Yippy as a consultant most recently. Yippy's incoming CEO has over 22 years of senior management experience in the educational publishing, information and new media markets and most recently served as an industry consultant and an adjunct professor at Sierra Nevada College. Marc Bigelow has during his previous career served at McGraw-Hill, Times Mirror, Thomson Learning (a division of Thomson Company) and most recently Gale Cengage. Marc will formally join Yippy July 11th and will continue to foster partnership agreements in educational and related markets as a consultant until that day.

Yippy (OTC: YIPI) reports that it recently entered into a formal long-term partnership agreement with InfoSpace.

Pursuant to the terms of the newly formed partnership, Yippy will display InfoSpace's sponsored results CPC (cost per click) advertising feed exclusively for both consumer search and educational research markets. The partnership agreement also provides for search results from major search engines consolidated using InfoSpace's proprietary technologies for Yippy's educational research engine. InfoSpace's search feed will allow the Company to significantly reduce the operational costs of the search business and provide a more robust search product for the Company's upcoming educational research engine release.
