Midstream segment adjusted pre-tax income stood at $613 million, vs. $754 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023.
The Chemicals segment adjusted pre-tax income&nbsp;stood at&nbsp;$205 million vs. $106 million in the prior quarter. Global olefins and polyolefins utilization was at 96% for the quarter.
The Refining segment adjusted pre-tax income&nbsp;stood&nbsp;at $228 million (vs. $797 million prior quarter)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Marketing&nbsp;and Specialties segment adjusted pre-tax income declined to $345 million from $432 million&nbsp;prior&nbsp;quarter.

Phillips 66's operating cash flow stood at $1.2 billion in the quarter, excluding working capital impacts of $1.4 billion, mainly due to inventory builds.&nbsp;
As of March-end, the company had cash and cash equivalents of $1.6 billion&nbsp;and committed capacity available under its credit facility worth $3.5 billion.&nbsp;
During the quarter, Phillips 66 funded $1.2 billion&nbsp;in&nbsp;share repurchases, $448 million in dividends, and&nbsp;$628 million&nbsp;in&nbsp;capital expenditures and investments.
Phillips 66 continued to project shareholder distributions of $13 billion to&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/01/36870959/petroleum-refineries-major-phillips-66-shares-are-up-today-details" rel="noreferrer noopener">$15 billion by 2024.</a>

Schlumberger, Transocean And More On CNBC's 'Final Trades'

On Friday,&nbsp;ConocoPhillips&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COP#NYSE">COP</a>) reportedly asked a U.S. court to postpone its decision on overlapping awards against Venezuela until the proceeds from the auction of shares in a&nbsp;Citgo Petroleum&nbsp;parent are determined.
The U.S. District Court in Delaware is overseeing an auction of shares in a Houston-based Citgo Petroleum parent company to address $21.3 billion in claims related to Venezuela&#8217;s past expropriations and debt defaults, as per Reuters.
The auction is expected to conclude this year and put the Venezuela-owned refiner in the hands of rivals or investors.
As per the report, Conoco&#8217;s three claims total over $11.5 billion, more than half of the amount of money sought in the case.&nbsp;
However, a provision in the award mandates the deduction of a partial overlap in two of the awards.
Conoco&#8217;s lawyers are asking the court to reject Venezuela&#8217;s stance and said in a filing, &#8220;The possibility of a double recovery will not arise until, if ever, the sale process raises at least $16.3 billion,&#8221;&nbsp;

Berkshire Hathaway And More On CNBC's 'Final Trades'

Phillips 66&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PSX#NYSE">PSX</a>) is reportedly exploring a sale of its 25% stake in the Rockies Express Pipeline.
The company hopes the asset to be worth more than $1 billion, including debt, reported Reuters.
Phillips 66 is expecting to command a premium to the stake&#8217;s current book value of $451 million, with bidders also needing to assume debt obligations worth over $500 million associated with the stake, as per the report.
The Rockies Express Pipeline is a 1,700-mile (2,730-km) interstate natural gas pipeline extending from Wyoming and Colorado in the U.S. West to Eastern Ohio.
As per the report, Phillips 66 is working with its advisers on talks with potential buyers, including private equity firms and infrastructure funds.
The company&#8217;s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Lashier, said they are in discussions with potential buyers for asset sales but&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/01/36505867/petroleum-refineries-company-phillips-66-eyes-non-core-asset-divestiture-report" rel="noreferrer noopener">are not rushing to complete divestments</a>.&nbsp;

CNBC Halftime Report Final Trades: Alphabet, NXP Semiconductors N.V., IShares U.S. Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ETF

The outbreak of war in the Middle East is threatening to hamper the Fed's efforts<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/inflation"> to control inflation</a>.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/23/10/35218882/they-are-like-isis-netanyahu-blinken-unite-against-hamas-as-imf-monitors-oil-market-impact">A Thursday visit from Secretary of State Antony Blinken</a> to Israel was confirmation of unconditional support from the U.S. for Israel in its war against Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.
Israel&#8217;s military reported on Thursday afternoon that over 1,200 people, including at least 27 Americans, have been killed by Hamas&#8217; attacks, with around 2,800 individuals injured. In response to these attacks, Israeli counterstrikes in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,537 individuals, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/israel-hamas-palestinian-war-attacks-gaza-strip/">reported</a>.
On Thursday morning, International Monetary Fund managing director Kristalina Georgieva <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/23/10/35218882/they-are-like-isis-netanyahu-blinken-unite-against-hamas-as-imf-monitors-oil-market-impact">expressed concern over how the conflict could affect global oil markets</a>, which are liable <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/10/35138138/how-the-israel-hamas-conflict-could-impact-oil-markets">to be disrupted by war in the Middle East</a>, where roughly a third of the global oil output is produced.
While the specific area where the conflict is located is not a significant oil-producing region, major disruptions in the global oil markets could come if further conflict arises between the U.S. and Iran, a long-time backer of Hamas operations against Israel. 
Earlier this week the Iranian government denied having any relationship with the Hamas attacks, as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said "We defend Palestine, we defend the fights."  This denial is contradicted by reports that Iran had a direct role in training Hamas for the latest attack on Israeli civilians, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/iran-israel-hamas-strike-planning-bbe07b25">according </a>to The Wall Street Journal.
While <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/10/35214135/us-prepares-2b-aid-package-for-israel-to-crush-hamas-amid-intensifying-conflict-report">Congress is preparing a $2-billion aid package</a> for Israel, several prominent U.S. politicians <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/10/35153697/lindsey-graham-suggests-joe-biden-threaten-iranian-oil-infrastructure-amid-israel-hamas-conflict-we">denounced Iran&#8217;s participation in the massacre</a>, proposing a double-down on oil sanctions. 
Yet the already fragile relationship between the U.S. and Iran, the world&#8217;s eight largest oil producers, could still have an impact on oil prices, exacerbating inflation worldwide and in the U.S.

Israel-Hamas Different From Ukraine-Russia War: Last month, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/09/34703828/a-prisoner-exchange-with-iran-could-impact-the-oil-sector-heres-how">a prisoner swap between the U.S. and Iran</a> emerged as the first sign of improving diplomatic relations after decades of tension over the Middle-eastern country's nuclear program. Iran's reported military assistance to Russia in the war on Ukraine has also been met with discontent in Washington.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 launched a world-wide energy crisis which impacted most economies as the world recovered from the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But the impact on oil prices stemming from the Israel/Hamas conflict is different in nature.&nbsp;
Energy prices spiked after the Ukraine invasion as the Western world imposed sanctions on Russia, which at the time remained a major supplier of natural gas to the European Union. Russia is also the third-largest oil producer, accounting for about 10% of global production.
The Israel-Hamas conflict's capacity to impact global oil prices is directly dependent on Iran&#8217;s level of involvement in the war on Israel. Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, where an estimated 20-30% of global oil inventory passes.
That scenario would put pressure on the U.S. and other Western nations to increase sanctions on Iran, shrinking the supply of oil to the West and raising barrel prices.
Conflict Could Affect Consumer Prices: Inflation in the U.S. has fallen to an annual 3.7% for both August and September, as per <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s/23/10/35218470/cpi-surpasses-estimates-inflation-prints-3-7-in-september-reigniting-fed-rate-hike-speculations">data released by the Department of Labor on Thursday</a>. While the rate is significantly lower than the peak of 9.1% reached during June 2022, it remains high above the 2% goal that the Fed is chasing <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/23/10/35202528/is-federal-reserve-near-the-end-of-rate-hiking-campaign-3-economists-weigh-in-on-fomc-minutes">by maintaining decades-high interest rates</a>.
The threat of energy prices affecting recent victories over inflation was highlighted as a major risk by Fed officials in minutes from the latest FOMC meeting, also released Thursday, where Fed governors voted to maintain the federal funds rate at between 5.25% and 5.50%.
On Wednesday, the CEO of oil exploration company Pioneer Natural Resources (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PXD#NYSE">PXD</a>) told CNBC that "If Iran enters the war, we&#8217;re going to see much higher oil prices."
The price of a barrel of oil is behind gas prices, a major consumer staple in which Americans spend an average 3% of their total budget. Oil prices also affect the cost of airline tickets, as well as the cost of shipping, which is then transferred to the rest of the supply chain, reaching the price of consumer goods.

Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase And More: CNBC's 'Final Trades'

The U.S. and Iran completed a prisoner swap that could anticipate improving relations between the two nations.
The deal, which freed 10 people — five Iranians and five Americans — also unlocked $6 billion in oil funds that the U.S. was holding from the Middle-Eastern nation.
Positive U.S.-Iran relations emerged during the post-war years but quickly deteriorated after the Iranian Revolution, which overthrew the last royal dynasty in 1979 and established the current Islamic Republic of Iran. By 1980 the two countries had ceased formal diplomatic relations.
The decades that followed were conflict-filled as the U.S. launched a long campaign of military intervention in the Middle East. The last decade was marked by U.S.-led pressure to limit Iran's nuclear weapons program through economic embargoes and sanctions which pressed heavily on the oil industry.
Iran's nuclear program: Iran is currently not known to possess any nuclear weapons but is publicly aiming for their development. The construction of uranium enrichment facilities beginning in the early 2000s has been a consistent cause of concern for the West.
Since 2015, the U.S. has been involved in efforts to oversee the dismantlement of Iran's nuclear weapons program through an initiative led by President Barack Obama, which leveraged lifting some sanctions in exchange for the deal. President Donald Trump pulled the U.S. from the agreement in 2018 leading Iran to boost its uranium enrichment program and launching the two countries into new military tensions.
Iran's involvement in the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/russia-ukraine-war">Ukraine war</a> has also raised concern for NATO powers as the country quickly became one of Russia's closest allies after Moscow was cut off from the West. 
Dozens of Russia-controlled, Iran-made fighter drones were spotted on the Ukrainian front. <a href="https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/01/05/iran-russia-drones-ukraine-war-military-cooperation/#cookie_message_anchor">According</a> to Foreign Policy, the two countries are deepening ties for mutual benefit and could become powerful allies in overcoming many of the sanctions imposed by the West.

Prisoner release and oil money: In this context, the diplomatic success story of a prisoner swap could mean an opening up of new talks between the U.S. and Iran.&nbsp;
"As we welcome home our fellow citizens, I once more remind all Americans of the serious risks of traveling to Iran. American passport holders should not travel there," said President Joe Biden in a speech following the prisoners' release.
Adding to the prisoners, the U.S. agreed to unfreeze $6 billion in Iran's name which was held in South Korea. The money came from the purchase of Iranian oil by the Asian country in 2018, which became stuck after Trump increased sanctions on Iran in 2019, The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/09/18/us-iran-prisoner-exchange/">reported</a>. Republican lawmakers recently <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/08/33998105/top-house-republicans-raise-alarm-over-bidens-6b-iran-deal">expressed discontent with unfreezing the funds</a>.
Iran won't be allowed to use the capital for sanctioned goods, which include weapons, and its expenditure will be overseen by the U.S. government to make sure it&#8217;s used to purchase resources like food or medicine.
Impact on the oil industry: As part of a long list of U.S. sanctions that have accumulated since 1979, U.S.-based companies are barred from investing in Iran's oil industry.
In 2019, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the U.S. would begin imposing sanctions on Chinese companies importing Iranian oil. Iran maintains close commercial ties with China, which remains its largest trading partner over the last decade with bilateral trade amounting to $15.8 billion in 2022.&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/09/34195070/us-china-tensions-likely-to-persist-as-chinese-president-xi-may-skip-g20-summit-biden-says-disappoin">Tensions between the U.S. and China</a> have been on the rise in recent years over <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/09/34187818/xi-jinpings-mouthpiece-warns-us-of-storm-of-lethal-consequences-over-taiwan-support-overstepped-a-re">issues concerning the sovereignty of Taiwan</a>, conflicting geopolitical influence and the domination of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/23/06/33050727/the-us-is-trying-to-weaken-chinas-semiconductor-industry-heres-what-china-is-doing-to-fight-back-in">key technological sectors including AI and semiconductors</a>.
Earlier this month, the U.S. seized 1 million barrels of crude oil from a Greek tanker owned by a company that was declared guilty of smuggling sanctioned Iranian oil.
During his presidential campaign, Biden vowed to renew the lost nuclear deal with Iran. While talks have been slow, renewing the deal would naturally involve stepping back on several of the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration.
Releasing sanctions on Iranian oil could impact the energy industry by pumping more oil into the system. Iran is an OPEC member and the 14th largest oil exporter by official numbers, though it&#8217;s believed the country exports a lot more oil through unofficial means.
In 2021, Iran accounted for 24% of oil reserves in the Middle East and 12% in the world, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
If U.S.-Iran talks improve and the countries return to talks of a new nuclear deal, the U.S. would remove sanctions, potentially impacting oil and energy ETFs. These include:

A Prisoner Exchange With Iran Could Impact The Oil Sector: Here's How

Tech is where the puck has been, but energy is where the puck is going, according to one investor who just bought shares of&nbsp;Transocean Ltd (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/rig#NYSE">RIG</a>).
What Happened: Thursday on CNBC&#39;s &quot;Fast Money Halftime Report,&quot;&nbsp;Ritholtz Wealth Management&#39;s&nbsp;Josh Brown made the case that Transocean shares are set to ride a wave of <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/quote/RIG">buying higher</a>.
The rest of the Halftime Report panel broadly&nbsp;agreed with the call.&nbsp;
&quot;When you look at the technicals here, this is a stock that has bottomed out and has been consolidating for quite some time. It is now snapping this very, very long-term downtrend,&quot; Brown said.&nbsp;
Most of Transocean&#39;s competition has gone bankrupt so there are very few&nbsp;pure-play deepwater drilling stocks left out there, he said, although he acknowledged that there are some other well-managed companies still left in the space.&nbsp;
RIG has the most to gain by day rates going higher and that&#39;s what he&#39;s betting on.&nbsp;
&quot;The tailwind that they are going to have in the second half of the year, in my view, puts them in a position for the first time in a long time to fix the balance sheet and start producing upside surprises,&quot; Brown said.&nbsp;
Transocean shares were once trading around $130 per share&nbsp;before the great financial crisis hit in 2008.&nbsp;The stock has been stuck in a long-term downtrend since, sinking&nbsp;alongside declining oil prices.

&quot;It&#39;s great whenever I&#39;m on the same side as Josh. That feels very comforting. But it&#39;s even more comforting when the technicals shake hands with the fundamentals, which is what you&#39;ve got going on here,&quot; Lebenthal said on the show.&nbsp;
There are a very small number of deepwater drilling rigs in the world and only about two-thirds of Transocean&#39;s rigs are under contract. The other dozen or so are idle, he said.&nbsp;
&quot;They&#39;re going to get these 12 rigs off of coldstack, maybe not all at once, but over the next six to 12 months, and their EBITDA is going to just leap up,&quot; Lebenthal stressed.&nbsp;
Gilman Hill Asset Management&#39;s Jenny Harrington doesn&#39;t own Transocean because it doesn&#39;t pay a big enough dividend, but she agreed with the other two panelists&nbsp;that energy is the space investors want to target.&nbsp;

Brown chimed back in the conversation and emphasized that there are a lot of different ways to win in energy.&nbsp;
&quot;Broadly speaking, it makes sense to me that energy is where the puck is headed,&quot; Brown said.

Adobe, Boeing, Rockwell Automation And More On CNBC's 'Final Trades'

On CNBC&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2022/10/20/final-trades-oracle-boeing-more.html">Halftime Report Final Trades</a>,&rdquo; Shannon Saccocia of Boston Private said Oracle Corporation (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/orcl#NYSE">ORCL</a>) is &ldquo;expanding its business for small and medium size enterprises.&rdquo; An important and growing aspect from the margins and earnings prospective is cloud, which accounts for about 30% of the company&rsquo;s revenue, she stated.
Oracle has acquired Cerner Corp (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/cern#NASDAQ">CERN</a>) to extend its presence in health care, which is a long-term trend to watch, Saccocia added.

Joshua Brown of Ritholtz Wealth Management chose iShares US Oil &amp; Gas Exploration &amp; Production ETF (BATS: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ieo#BATS">IEO</a>) as &ldquo;everything is going well&rdquo; in the energy <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/best-sectors-to-invest-in-right-now/">sector</a>. Brown mentioned that 40 of 50 stocks in the ETF are energy producers trading above their 50-day moving average. &ldquo;The median PE ratio in the IEO is 9&rdquo; and the &ldquo;median price to free cash flow ratio is 7,&rdquo; he added.
Jim Lebenthal of Cerity Partners named Boeing Co. (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ba#NYSE">BA</a>) as his final trade. Shares of Boeing have risen by 15% over the last three weeks, he stated.

On CNBC&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2022/09/29/final-trades-salesforce-volkswagen-booz-allen-more.html">Halftime Report Final Trades</a>,&rdquo; Stephen Weiss of Short Hills Capital Partners said he had sold all his shares of Volkswagen AG (OTCMKTS: VWAGY) after looking at CarMax, Inc (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/kmx#NYSE">KMX</a>). The sales of autos are declining &ldquo;just as they&rsquo;re building up inventory,&rdquo; he mentioned.
Karen Firestone of Aureus Asset Management said Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corporation (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/bah#NYSE">BAH</a>) is &ldquo;not a particularly recessionary type of company&rdquo; and is &ldquo;not so cyclical.&rdquo; &ldquo;We have a sense that in November at the midterms, the Republicans will take back the house. That&rsquo;s positive for the defense department,&rdquo; she added.

Brenda Vingiello of Sand Hill Global Advisors said Salesforce Inc. (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/crm#NYSE">CRM</a>) has &ldquo;a lot of recurring revenue.&rdquo; &ldquo;The stock price has backed down to where it was in 2019,&rdquo; Vingiello mentioned. &ldquo;Management just reiterated full-year revenue guidance for this year, looking for 17% growth,&rdquo; she added.
