Alejandro Cao de Benós, the primary Western contact for business with Kim Jong Un&#8217;s North Korea, is facing scrutiny from U.S. authorities for alleged violations of sanctions.
What Happened: Cao de Benós, a resident of Tarragona, Spain, and an IT consultant is a semi-official spokesperson for North Korea. He previously organized North Korea&#8217;s first cryptocurrency conference, which, according to U.S. authorities, violated sanctions. The FBI sought his extradition, leading to his arrest by Spanish police in late 2023. He was later released pending extradition.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-25/how-alejandro-cao-de-benos-north-korea-s-man-in-spain-ran-afoul-of-the-us?srnd=homepage-asia">Bloomberg</a>, Cao de Benós revealed that despite the charges, he is &#8220;not going to stop&#8221; his activities and is &#8220;not afraid.&#8221;
Cao de Benós is accused of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a U.S. law often used to target alleged violators of sanctions against North Korea. 
His passport is currently in Spanish custody due to an unrelated firearms charge. Cao de Benós claims that the U.S. has withdrawn its extradition request. He provided Bloomberg with purported email exchanges between the U.S. Embassy and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, suggesting a lack of &#8220;dual criminality&#8221; between the two countries regarding the charges.
"I'm just a person up against the biggest empire of this time, the US, which has a lot of resources, with millions [of dollars] dedicated to destroying North Korea,&#8221; Cao de Benós said.
Despite the ongoing legal issues, Cao de Benós considers this a victory, stating, &#8220;Having won this first battle against the U.S., it shows me that I&#8217;m going in the right direction.&#8221;

Why It Matters: This case follows a pattern of North Korea&#8217;s alleged use of cryptocurrency to evade sanctions. In 2022, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/04/26804761/former-ethereum-developer-and-two-european-citizens-charged-for-conspiring-over-north-kore">Cao de Benós and a U.K. businessman </a>were accused of recruiting an Ethereum developer to help North Korea evade U.S. sanctions. 
Furthermore, a UN Security Council investigation revealed that North Korea obtains <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/03/37896655/un-says-north-korea-steals-billions-in-crypto-to-fund-doomsday-weapons">about half of its foreign currency earnings</a> from cyberattacks on cryptocurrency-related firms, causing an estimated $3 billion in damages.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Study Highlights</h2>
Treatment-resistant depression affects around 30% of people with major depressive disorder, or depression, and is diagnosed when an individual does not respond to two or more antidepressants. Many studies exploring potential new medications for TRD require patients to taper off their existing treatments. However, since TRD is often managed with the use of several interventions, it is important to understand how different treatment options interact, which is why Beckley Psytech is exploring the safety and efficacy of BPL-003 co-administration with Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) in this study.
In this part of the study patients with moderate-to-severe TRD who are also taking certain defined SSRIs will receive a single dose of BPL-003 alongside psychological support to explore the safety, tolerability, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of BPL-003 as an adjunctive therapy to SSRIs. 
Patients will be followed for 12 weeks post-dosing with assessments conducted at multiple points throughout the period. 
Initial results from this part of the study are expected to be shared in the first half of 2025. 
Part 1 of the study&nbsp;was in patients who were not taking antidepressants with initial results showing that a single dose of BPL-003 was safe and well-tolerated, with a rapid and durable antidepressant effect lasting up to 85 days post-dose.
A Phase IIb trial of BPL-003 is also currently underway, evaluating the effects of a single medium or high dose of BPL-003 against a sub-perceptual dose in TRD patients who are not taking concomitant antidepressants. Initial results from that study are expected in the second half of the year.&nbsp;

First Patient Dosed In Psychedelics Therapy Study  For Treatment-Resistant Depression

Domino&#8217;s Pizza, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DPZ#NYSE">DPZ</a>) is scheduled to post earnings results for its first quarter, before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DPZ/earnings">opening bell on April 29, 2024</a>.
Analysts expect the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based company to report quarterly earnings at $3.39 per share, up from $2.93 per share in the year-ago period. Domino&#8217;s is projected to report quarterly revenue of $1.08 billion, up from $1.02 billion in the year-earlier quarter, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On April 16, UBS analyst Dennis Geiger maintained Domino&#8217;s Pizza with a Buy and raised the price target from $526 to $570, while Jefferies analyst Andy Barish maintained the stock with a Hold and increased the price target from $455 to $480.
With the recent buzz around Domino&#8217;s Pizza, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends. As of now, Domino&#8217;s Pizza has a dividend yield of 1.22%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of $1.51 a share ($6.04 a year).
To figure out how to earn $500 monthly from Domino&#8217;s, we start with the yearly target of $6,000 ($500 x 12 months).
Next, we take this amount and divide it by Domino&#8217;s $6.04 dividend: $6,000 / $6.04 &nbsp;= 993 shares
So, an investor would need to own approximately $491,307 worth of Domino&#8217;s, or 993 shares to generate a monthly dividend income of $500.
Assuming a more conservative goal of $100 monthly ($1,200 annually), we do the same calculation: $1,200 / $6.04 = 199 shares, or $98,459 to generate a monthly dividend income of $100.

Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.
The dividend yield is calculated by dividing the annual dividend payment by the current stock price. As the stock price changes, the dividend yield will also change.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and its current price is $50, its dividend yield would be 4%. However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield would decrease to 3.33% ($2/$60).
Conversely, if the stock price decreases to $40, the dividend yield would increase to 5% ($2/$40).
Further, the dividend payment itself can also change over time, which can also impact the dividend yield. If a company increases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will increase even if the stock price remains the same. Similarly, if a company decreases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will decrease.

Jason Snipe of Odyssey Capital Advisors said he likes Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VZ#NYSE">VZ</a>) here. The company has a tremendous free cash flow and has a 6.8% dividend yield.
On April 22, Verizon Communications reported fiscal first-quarter 2024 results. Its sales increased 0.2% year over year to $32.98 billion, marginally missing the consensus of $33.24 billion. 
Adjusted EPS of $1.15 beat the consensus of $1.12. Verizon reiterated a 2.0% – 3.5% wireless service revenue growth. It maintained an adjusted EPS of $4.50 – $4.70 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/04/38356319/verizons-q1-flat-revenue-bump-in-free-cash-flow-and-stable-2024-outlook">versus consensus of $4.58</a>.

Jim Lebenthal of Cerity Partners said General Motors Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) is generating a lot of cash that will come back to shareholders both in the form of dividends and buybacks.
On April 23, General Motors reported better-than-expected earnings for its fiscal first quarter. The company posted quarterly sales growth of 7.6% year-on-year to $43.01 billion, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $41.88 billion. Adjusted EPS of $2.62 beat the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/04/38402271/general-motors-analysts-raise-their-forecasts-after-better-than-expected-earnings">consensus estimate of $2.14</a>, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
