Little Rock, AR (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) is poised to host its 22nd Annual Conference & Expo this summer, uniting healthcare case management professionals from around the globe for a four day educational conference. The event will be held in San Francisco, California, from June 19 – 22, 2012, at the Moscone Center West.

Each year, CMSA's Annual Conference & Expo attendees represent a variety of stakeholders who are invested in the future of collaborative care, including nurses, social workers, pharmacists and physicians. In an industry where models of care delivery are evolving significantly, these groups of patient and family caregiver advocates benefit from Conference networking opportunities, educational sessions, policy updates and the discovery of related products and services.

“This year's conference theme alone reflects what an exciting time it is for health care,” said Mary Beth Newman, MSN, RN-BC, CMAC, CCP, CCM, President of CMSA. “The shift in practice toward quality-driven and patient-centered models of care, combined with the availability of new technologies to facilitate these models, provides a unique opportunity for case managers today. Our profession can take the challenges presented through these and other factors, such as new regulations and research, and meet them with enthusiasm and heightened awareness.”

Conference keynote speakers include Kathleen Passanisi, PT, CSP, CPAE, a motivational speaker and healthcare professional who will discuss her use of therapeutic humor to treat clients in various care settings. Dr. Lowell B. Catlett, PhD., Regent's Professor at New Mexico State University, futurist and two-time recipient of the Don C. Roush Award for Excellence in Teaching, will speak about healthcare's impact on 21st Century economics. In addition, Charity Tillemann Dick, a world-renowned composer and soprano, will share the remarkable story of her unwavering will to sing following a double lung transplant.

Annual Conference sessions will emphasize topics related to the transforming role of case managers, including the impact of new healthcare research, reforms and technologies. Subjects including Transitions of Care, Integrated Care and Patient Safety are at the forefront of the current state of care management; these matters, and their effects on elements such as cost reductions and hospital re-admissions, will be prevalent in session material.
