ROSSLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 6, 2012) - In response to the record-low snowfall conditions throughout the US, Red Mountain Resort, located in Rossland, BC (five miles north of the US/Canadian border), is offering FREE lift passes to ALL US residents for the next 30 days. This promotion is the first time a ski resort is running an offering of this magnitude.

"Despite the catastrophic snowfall conditions throughout the resort regions of the California Sierras, Lake Tahoe, Utah, Colorado, and other East Coast resorts, Red Mountain is continuing to deliver the goods - snow," says an enthusiastic Howard Katkov, president and CEO of Red Mountain Resort.

US residents who book through Red Mountain Resort lodging using the booking code "RedsGotSnow" or by phone at 877-969-SNOW (7669) will receive free passes for as many days as they are staying at the resort.

"This offering is a direct response to the poor snow conditions across the US this season and we're excited to do something that no other ski resort in North America is doing - free passes for all US residents," states Katkov. Between the low direct airfares and the free passes, we're making an extremely attractive offering to those who haven't experienced Canadian skiing and Canadian hospitality."

Red was named "Top Ski Resort for the Extreme Skier" in the New York Times 2011 Snow Guide, along with a few other notable ski accolades recently including No. 2 ski resort worldwide by the Toronto Sun and "Best Powder, Best Trees, Best Steeps." Red is the hidden jewel of BC's Kootenay Rockies region - or as the locals like to call it, the "Powder Highway".

With dozens of affordable direct flights into Spokane International Airport every day, powder-craving skiers and snowboarders alike are able to book their flights from as low as $89 each way from many US locations. Red offers accommodations for all budgets.

"We've received new snow on eight of the last 12 days since December 24 - nearly two feet of snow," says Katkov. "The best part - more on the way."

With snow in full force at Red (1,685 acres/88 runs/2,919 vertical drop), every chair is running at the resort. Additionally, all of Granite and Red mountains' runs are fully open with 100 per cent natural snow. Furthermore, Red's legendary "side-country" (2,500 acres) is open for the taking. Interested visitors are encouraged to look at flights going into Spokane International Airport in Washington (GEG) or Castlegar Airport (YCG) in British Columbia.
