Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 07, 2011

BearCom, a nationwide provider of wireless communications equipment and solutions, took another big step today toward readying the wireless user community for the inevitable by releasing its 2012 Two-Way Radio Narrowbanding Guide.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set forth the narrowbanding initiative in 1992 with the ultimate objective of increasing capacity and efficiency for the industrial/business and public safety radio pools in the private land mobile radio services category. In essence, the mandate requires public agencies and companies that use two-way radios to upgrade their technology.

The narrowbanding guide, which is available free for downloading from BearCom's website at http://www.BearCom.com/Resource-Library, answers important questions, such as:

  •     What is the narrowbanding mandate?
  •     Who does it apply to?
  •     When does it go into effect?
  •     How do you comply with the mandate?

While the punishment for failing to comply with the mandate is the proverbial stick, there are also plenty of carrots to go around. “This guide does an excellent job of presenting the opportunities that are inherent in satisfying the FCC's narrowbanding mandate,” said Mark Crosby, President & CEO of the Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA). “Complying with these federal regulations creates the occasion to simultaneously review wireless communications requirements and enhance system objectives through new technologies and product features that are now available.”

The creation of the narrowbanding guide is just another example of how BearCom takes a partnership approach when it comes to its customers. “Our customers have their hands full with managing operations,” said BearCom President & CEO Jerry Denham. “We're here to be their partner in all areas that deal with wireless technology. That approach has been an instrumental tenet in making BearCom the industry leader that it is today.”

BearCom, Motorola, and the EWA worked together to launch http://www.Narrowbanding.com earlier this year to serve as another important resource to help educate the public about the FCC narrowbanding update.
