Successes Snowballing for AMX Power Distribution Unit, Wins Another Industry Award

Intelligent PDU Delivers More Complete Approach to Energy Management Wins SCN Installation Product Award at InfoComm 2011

Richardson, TX (PRWEB) July 21, 2011

AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, announced its NetLinx® Power Distribution Unit (NXA-PDU-1508-8) was selected as the Most Innovative Power Conditioner or Surge Protection Product by Systems Contractor News (SCN)/InfoComm at InfoComm 2011.

The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) combines power management and remote access/control into one device. By managing power delivery, the PDU monitors energy consumption of each connected component and can restrict power to any or all devices when not in use. The PDU adds a new level of control at the rack by allowing remote reset of devices. For dealers, this means less truck rolls to customer sites as devices connected to the PDU can be reset via the Web.

“With three industry awards since its introduction last year, the market has clearly found the Power Distribution Unit as a valuable innovation to maximize the energy efficiency of AV deployments,” said AMX Chief Technology Officer Robert Noble. “We have gotten considerable feedback from dealers reporting their clients' have realized greater energy and operational savings after implementing the PDU. It's genuinely the ideal AV/IT power management strip.”

With 8 individually monitored and controlled AC outlets, built-in 12-Volt power supply, 2 sets of 4 AxLink® Bus Strips, power monitoring for each outlet, plus a temperature sensor, the PDU combines power supply and power distribution into one device saving equipment and installation costs. Native NetLinx control over AxLink integrates the PDU with AMX Control systems and Resource Management Suite® (RMS).

InfoComm International and NewBay Media created the SCN Installation Product Awards to recognize excellence in the integration of audio, video, control, and networking products in the commercial AV installation market. Manufacturer-nominated products shipping in 2010 were judged by a blue-ribbon panel of AV integrators and consultants, who then created a final list of nominees. This list was then put forth to the readers of Systems Contractor News, who voted for their favorites via a reader's poll.

“For the eighth year in a row, SCN has recognized the achievements of the top innovators in professional AV integration products,” commented Kirsten Nelson, editor of SCN. “Every year, our panel of AV integrator and consultant judges selects the final list of nominees from a large group of entries, and then our readers make the final determination which products have brought about the most change in the field. Consistently, our winning products demonstrate the ingenuity and problem-solving capabilities that are the foundation of our industry.”

Winners were announced on June 14, 2011, before the start of the InfoComm International show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
