Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. Announces Portfolio Management Appointments for Three Templeton Emerging Markets Mandates for Canadians

TORONTO, March 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. today announced portfolio management team appointments for three mandates sub-advised by the Templeton Emerging Markets Group ("TEMG") for Canadian investors, effective April 3, 2017.

For Templeton Emerging Markets Fund, Chetan Sehgal, CFA, director of Global Emerging Markets/Small Cap Strategies for TEMG, will assume the role of lead portfolio manager, and Carlos Hardenberg, director of Frontier Markets Strategy for TEMG, will be added as a portfolio manager, as the fund's current lead portfolio manager Dr. Mark Mobius steps off the fund's portfolio management team. Dr. Mobius will remain as executive chairman for TEMG, contributing investment ideas and research for the group.

For Templeton Asian Growth Fund, the fund's current co-lead portfolio manager Allan Lam, director of Asia Strategy for TEMG, will become lead manager as Dr. Mobius steps off the fund's portfolio management team. TEMG portfolio manager Eric Mok will be added as a portfolio manager for the fund.

For Templeton Frontier Markets Fund, the fund's current co-lead portfolio manager Mr. Hardenberg will become lead portfolio manager, as Dr. Mobius steps off the fund's portfolio management team. TEMG portfolio managers David Haglund and Ahmed Awny will continue in their current roles as portfolio managers for the fund.

Templeton Emerging Markets Corporate Class, Templeton Asian Growth Corporate Class and Templeton Frontier Markets Corporate Class, part of Franklin Templeton's Corporate Class structure, are also impacted by these appointments as they invest in units of Templeton Emerging Markets Fund, Templeton Asian Growth Fund and Templeton Frontier Markets Fund, respectively.

These appointments are part of a series of new portfolio manager assignments that will align TEMG's portfolio management teams across its fund offerings and recognize the investment leadership roles key individuals have been playing in their specific strategies.
