CHGT Experiments with Flexible Materials as Auto, Medical and Toy Markets Take Shape

HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / May 11, 2016 / Seeking to stretch its capabilities into additional markets, Changing Technologies, Inc. CHGT has started testing methods and procedures for 3D printing and additive manufacturing with a number of flexible, bendable materials. The goal of these trials and experiments is to open further inroads into the automotive, medical and toy fields, where flexible materials are quickly gaining popularity thanks to their adaptability and ability to bend.

"The early years of 3D printing focused almost exclusively on plastics and rigid materials," said CHGT CEO Marco Valenzuela. "These tended to get brittle over time. Now with the technology's great advances, more and more materials can be utilized during the manufacturing process. CHGT wants to become a recognized leader in the use of flexible materials. Adding this capability to our services will make us an even more attractive solution, especially for automotive and medical companies, two of the biggest customers for flexible printing and two industries we want to target."

3D printer makers are rolling out new, robust printers capable of using flexible, bendable materials. The advantage of these is that they could make the manufacture of sub-assemblies much cheaper, which greatly interests auto parts and medical device companies. In addition, flexible, bendable materials could also open new possibilities in the toy and gaming industry, an area where CHGT has enjoyed previous success.
