posted a loss for the year through June. Newcrest swung to a net loss of A$5.78 billion, versus a year-ago profit of A$1.12 billion. On an underlying basis, it earned A$451 million, beating analysts' estimates of A$434.6 million. Newcrest shares closed at $10.81 on Friday.
