US Stock Futures Slightly Down; Crude Oil Declines

US stock futures are slightly lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2 points to 12,861.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 1.10 points to 1,365.70. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 2.50 points to 2,641.25. US stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.11% to 12,922.02, the S&P 500 index surging 0.36% to 1,370.87 and the Nasdaq 100 index jumping 0.60% to 2,988.34. The US Treasury Department is scheduled to issue its monthly budget for February at 1800 GMT. The Conference Board will release its employment trend index for February at 10.00 a.m. EDT. Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average declining 0.40%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.19% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 0.29%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.23% and India's Sensex rose 0.48%. Light, sweet crude-oil futures dropped $0.75 to $106.65 a barrel in electronic trading. The U.S. dollar index (DXY) rose 0.03% to 79.98 on Monday.
