Travelers Provides Wildfire Mitigation Services to Small Businesses in California

The Travelers Companies, Inc. TRV today announced it will provide wildfire mitigation services at no additional cost to its small business customers with building coverage in California through its Wildfire Defense Services endorsement. Travelers added a similar endorsement in 2019 to its California personal insurance home and landlord policies.

Loss prevention services, such as reducing potential fuel sources, deploying sprinkler systems, closing structure openings and, in certain situations, applying a fire-retardant gel, will be made available through Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS), a private firm that specializes in wildfire mitigation. In the event of an approaching wildfire, WDS uses proprietary predictive analysis systems to help identify Travelers' small business customers who could be affected, and then sends trained teams to protect as many buildings as possible. Such efforts supplement those of local emergency personnel.
