Arizona Public Service and its parent company, Pinnacle West Capital Corp., have been awarded the HIRE Vets Medallion by the U.S. Department of Labor for its commitment to veteran careers. The program, which has rigorous criteria, is based on requirements of the HIRE Vets Act signed by President Trump in May 2017 and recognizes employers' commitment to veteran careers, including hiring, retention and long-term development. The Department announced that 2018 would be a demonstration of the program, prior to full implementation in 2019. APS employees – and U.S. military veterans – Paul Rose (Navy), Carmen Sparkman (Army) and Ray Brooks (Marine Corps) accepted the award on APS' behalf at a ceremony held Thursday, Nov. 8 in Washington D.C.
