FirstEnergy Executive Vice Chairman Paul Evanson to Retire

today announced that Executive Vice Chairman Paul J. Evanson will retire effective June 1, 2011. Evanson will continue to work with the company on a consulting basis. Prior to FirstEnergy's merger with Allegheny Energy, which was completed in February 2011, Evanson served as Allegheny's chairman, president and chief executive officer since 2003. "I appreciate Paul's contributions to our industry and his support during the merger process," said FirstEnergy President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony J. Alexander. "He played a key role in the merger of FirstEnergy and Allegheny Energy, helping to create a larger, stronger company that is well positioned for future success."
