Brinker's Q4 Results Beat Modestly, Guidance Inline

Brinker International, Inc. EAT announced better than expected results for the fourth quarter. Its outlook for the fiscal year 2017 is in line with the estimates.

The company reported 20.7 percent EPS growth from $0.92 to $1.11 in the fourth quarter. On an adjusted basis, its EPS would have advanced 31.9 percent from $0.94 to $1.24 and topped the Street estimates by $0.01 a share.

Brinker generated revenue of $881.7 million in the fourth quarter representing 15.4 percent year-over-year increase and came in ahead of the analysts' predictions of $881.43 million.

The company's CEO and president, Wyman Roberts, commented, "We are also encouraged by the early results of our fiscal year 2017 initiatives. The strong cash flow generation of our business model gives us confidence to increase our leverage and return additional capital to shareholders."

For the fiscal year 2016, Brinker's adjusted EPS was $3.55 on revenue of $3.26 billion.

Going forward, Brinker expects its adjusted EPS in the range of $3.40-$3.50 share in the fiscal year 2017. Street analysts' are looking for an EPS of $3.43.

On Wednesday, the stock closed at $46.97.
