The retail earnings for many firms were released this week.
With the long winter weather being a common theme for poor earnings from some firms, other firms were reporting a pick-up in performance once the weather started to lift.
Here is a look at how many fared:
Better-Than-Expected Earnings
- Best Buy BBY - EPS $0.33 beating expected $0.20. Revenue was $9.04 billion, less than the estimated $9.21 bilion.
- Aeropostale ARO - EPS was $0.52 beating the expected loss of $0.72. Revenue was $359.9 million, less than the estimated $409.44 million.
- Tiffany & Co. TIF - EPS was $0.97 beating the expected $0.78. Revenue was $1.01 billion, greater than the estimated $955.12 million.
- Williams-Sonoma WMB - EPS was $0.48, beating the expected $0.44.
- Campbell Soup CPB - EPS was $0.62, beating the expected $0.59. Revenue was $1.97 billion, less than the estimated $2 billion.
- Gamestop GME - EPS was $0.59, beating the expected $0.57. Revenue was $2 billion, less than the estimated $2.03 billion.
- Gap GPS - EPS was $0.58, beating the expected $0.57. Revenue was $3.77 billion, greater than the expected $3.71 billion.
- Perry Ellis International PERY - EPS was $0.55, beating the expected $0.27. Revenue came out to be $257 million, versus $233.65 million estimates.
Less-Than-Expected Earnings
- Home Depot HD - EPS was $0.96, less than the expected $0.99. Revenue was $19.69 billion, which is less than the expected $19.95 billion.
- Target TGT - EPS was $0.70, less than the estimated $0.72. Revenue was $17.05 billion, which is greater than the estimated $17.02 billion.
- TJX Companies TJX - EPS was $0.64, less than the expected $0.67. Revenue was also less than expected, with revenue being $6.49 billion and expected revenue being $6.60 billion.
- Sears SHLD - EPS was $2.24, less than the expected $1.80. Revenue was $7.88 billion, which was greater than the expected $7.75 billion.
- Staples SPLS - EPS was $0.18, less than the expected $0.21. Revenue was $5.65 billion, which was greater than the expected $5.62 billion.
- Movado Group MOV - EPS was $0.29, less than the expected $0.32. Revenue was $120.9 million, which was less than the expected $123.07 million.
- Shoe Carnival SCVL - EPS was $0.45, less than the expected $0.49. Revenue was $235.8 million, which was less than the expected $238.29 million.
In Line With Estimates
- Hewlett-Packard HPQ - EPS was in line with estimates, but revenue was $27.3 billion, which was less than the estimated $27.42 billion.
- Ross Stores ROST - EPS was in line with estimates, but revenue was less than expected coming at $2.68 billion, while the estimate was $2.69 billion.
- Hhgregg HGG - LPS was in line with estimates and revenue was $538.3 million, slightly above the expected $537.98 million.
- The Fresh Market TFM - EPS was in estimates and revenue was $431 million, greater than the $419.35 million.
- Cato CATO - EPS was in line with what analysts expected.
- Dollar Tree DLTR - EPS was in line with estimates, but revenue was slightly below estimates coming in at $2 billion while estimates were $2.01 billion.
- Stage Stores SSI - EPS were in line with estimates, but revenue was below estimates, with revenue coming in at $372 million and estimate being $375.12 million.
