posted a net loss in the first half of the year. Glencore Xstrata posted a net loss of $8.92 billion in the period, versus a year-ago net profit of $2.28 billion. Its adjusted EBIT declined 28% to $3.18 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $2.97 billion. Glencore Xstrata shares closed at $9.55 yesterday.
