Nissan Posts Upbeat Q1 Profit

Nissan Motor Co

reported a 14% gain in its April-June quarter. Nissan's quarterly net profit surged to 82.02 billion yen ($819 million), beating analysts' estimates of 63.8 billion yen. Nissan's China sales declined 15% to 284,000 vehicles, while total sales dropped 1% to 308,000 vehicles. Nissan shares closed at $22.33 yesterday.
