Elon Musk Left Speechless As His Company's Initiative Earns Praise From 'Frenemy' Jim Cramer

Elon Musk expressed shock after being praised by Jim Cramer following Neuralink‘s groundbreaking achievement in human brain implant technology.

What Happened: Musk announced on Monday that his startup, Neuralink, had successfully performed its first human brain implant. He further noted the patient’s good recovery and the promising results from initial neuron spike detection.

The first Neuralink product, named "Telepathy," allows the control of a phone or computer. Musk has ambitious goals for the product, too.

"Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal."

This won him praise from several quarters, including from Cramer, who remarked that this was "incredible."

"My hat's off to him. This is something that is so far advanced from what anyone has done," Cramer said. "Look, I can joke about Tesla and inventory … but this is incredible."

Musk, however, expressed disbelief and given his history with Cramer, it could be due to the fact that he believes this is not a good sign. In the past, Musk has sent some spicy words toward Cramer, especially after the latter made fun of Tesla Inc.'s Cybertruck.

"This is a good omen! Inverse Cramer never fails," Musk posted at the time.

Musk made fun of Cramer in the past when he dismissed recession fears. "The Cramer prediction is alarming," Musk said.

Why It Matters: Neuralink’s successful human implant represents a leap forward in the science of brain-computer interface and has drawn attention from various quarters.

Following the announcement, Cramer lauded Musk’s ability to accomplish what seems impossible.

Neuralink's N1 brain implant has the potential to help in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders like ALS, with analysts at Ark Invest expecting that it can hit $220 million in revenue by 2030.
