Apple Inc.’s AAPL first-generation mixed reality headset Vision Pro may not feature Wi-Fi 6E support.
What Happened: According to a report by MacRumors, the Vision Pro headset has secured the necessary FCC approval in the U.S., but it does not incorporate Wi-Fi 6E support. The FCC documentation discloses no authorized operating frequencies in the 6 GHz range for the product.
Wi-Fi 6E is an enhancement to the standard Wi-Fi 6 protocol, working on the 6 GHz band and providing faster wireless speeds with reduced signal interference.
It is supported by several Apple products, including the latest iPad Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, and most Mac models released last year.
Despite this, the Vision Pro does offer standard Wi-Fi 6 support, which operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, as per Apple’s application documents. The full specifications for the Vision Pro are yet to be disclosed by the tech giant.
Pre-orders for the Vision Pro in the U.S. will begin on Friday, Jan. 19, with prices starting at $3,499. The official product launch is slated for Friday, Feb. 2.
