Tesla CEO Elon Musk Says Microsoft Word 'Scolds' Users For Language Deemed Not 'Inclusive'

Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk expressed frustration with Microsoft Corp‘s MSFT software, Microsoft Word, as he seemingly attempted to create a document about the EV giant’s new Cybertruck.

Musk complained on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “Microsoft Word now scolds you if you use words that aren't ‘inclusive’!”

He shared an image of a document where Microsoft flagged the word “insane” for implying mental health bias, although Musk used the term to highlight the Cybertruck’s stability.

In a response, he also noted that the software urged him to convert the vehicle’s 11,000 lbs towing capacity into a relative "about twice the weight of an elephant" instead of into kilograms.

Why It Matters: Musk is a vocal critique of what he terms the "woke mind virus" and has often proposed ‘free speech’ where people are allowed to voice their opinions without a filter on language.

He has previously termed wokeness as ‘anti-human’ and slammed Netflix and even OpenAI‘s  chatbot ChatGPT for the same.
