BWH Hotels Teams Up With Tesla To Offer EV Charging Stations

BWH Hotels has announced a partnership with Tesla TSLA to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at selected properties across North America starting in 2024.

What Happened: Hotel News Resource reported that the collaboration will leverage Tesla’s Universal Wall Connectors, compatible with all North American vehicle models, underscoring BWH Hotels’ commitment to sustainability and enhanced guest experiences.

Michael Morton, Vice President of Brand Management and Member Services at BWH Hotels, highlighted the initiative as a blend of eco-conscious efforts and quality guest services. Additionally, the brand’s Earth, People, and Community (EPC) effort focuses on environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Travelers will soon be able to filter BWH Hotels’ website results for properties with Tesla charging stations.

Why It Matters: This move by BWH Hotels is a significant step in the hospitality industry’s adaptation to the growing EV market. It follows similar initiatives by other major players, including EG Group’s partnership with Tesla for EV charging expansion in Europe.

Additionally, Ford Motor Co F has expanded its charging network, incorporating Tesla superchargers, reflecting an industry-wide emphasis on enhancing EV infrastructure to support sustainable transportation. The growing network of EV charging stations, now including BWH Hotels, plays a crucial role in reducing range anxiety and promoting the adoption of electric vehicles.

Notably, Tesla has also opened its supercharger stations to rival EVs in the United States, a development lauded by President Joe Biden and indicative of the broader shift towards electric vehicles. Tesla’s move to open its network reflects a commitment to advancing sustainable energy and supporting the global transition to electric vehicles.
