Meta Platforms, Inc META dissolved its Responsible AI division, which regulated the safety of its artificial intelligence ventures.
The Menlo Park, California-based company reassigned most members of the RAI team to its Generative AI product division, while others will now work on the AI Infrastructure team, the Information reports.
Meta launched AI features in September, including customized sticker creation, image editing, and a slew of celebrity chatbot characters that generative AI powers. It also rolled out AI technology for developers.
After OpenAI's ChatGPT swiftly captured the public's imagination last year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg dedicated more time to talking about AI than the metaverse on earnings calls and at its annual developer conference.
Recently, companies including Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGL Google, and Microsoft Corp MSFT called out for industry-specific AI regulation and collective governance of AI.
