Tesla Sets Up Dedicated X Account For Cybertruck: Does It Signal An Imminent Launch?

Tesla Inc TSLA has made a new affiliate X, formerly Twitter, account solely for its upcoming vehicle — the Cybertruck.

Making an X profile dedicated to a vehicle on its lineup is a first for the EV giant whose other 20 affiliate accounts are region-specific, belong to their executives or cater to certain other aspects of their business such as its charging infrastructure or humanoid robot Optimus.

What Happened: The first post from the account was made on Sunday of a set square —a triangular ruler, representing the angular design of the exoskeleton-based vehicle. The triangle is also the descriptor for the profile.

The profile also reposted a livestream from Tesla’s account of the vehicle’s off-road testing in Baja.

The account features a picture from its winter testing days as its cover image and an image of it driving through water for a profile picture.

Why It Matters: At the company’s annual shareholder meeting earlier this year in May, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck delivery event would be held later this year. Though the company has not announced a date for the event to date, fans and enthusiasts have been awaiting the vehicle since its announcement in 2019 and more avidly since the last quarter.
