iPhone 15 And 15 Plus Survive The Bend Test That The iPhone 15 Pro Max Failed

If you are looking to upgrade to the iPhone 15 from the iPhone 14 or an older iPhone, you may want to check out durability tests to decide which iPhone 15 model you need to consider and which one to avoid.

What Happened: Apple Inc.'s AAPL more affordable iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus survived the bend test that the top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max failed in a shattering fashion.

Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything put the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and the top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max through his bend test to determine which iPhone 15 models pass his durability checks. While it's not a scientific test, it still gives us an idea about how durable and strong a smartphone is.

Surprisingly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max ended up shattering easily – its back glass looks to be very fragile, going by Nelson's test.

“Most phones do not break. iPhones, especially, do not break like ever. That snap was abnormally quick,” Nelson said after the iPhone 15 Pro Max' back glass broke when he was just getting started. He said he was "stunned" by the results.

On the other hand, Nelson posted another video, putting the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus through the paces. Surprisingly, these more affordable iPhone 15 models passed his tests with flying colors.

Why It Matters: The iPhone 15 Pro Max is Apple's top-tier smartphone, and this year, it is starting at a higher price point of $1,199, as compared to its predecessor's starting price of $1,099.

Apple also touted the new titanium design during the launch event, explaining the manufacturing process in detail. While this may suggest to buyers that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is more durable, Nelson's tests suggest that the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus take that crown instead.

If you want a durable iPhone 15, you might get away with spending just $799 instead.
