What's Going On With AMD Stock Friday?

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc AMD stock is trading lower Friday amid reports of  Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd TSM postponing the delivery of high-end chipmaking equipment

TSMC, also a key AMD supplier, postponed production at its Arizona plant to 2025 due to recruitment difficulties and union opposition, adding incremental pressure on the contract chipmaker on top of the global chip shortage.

TSMC's postponement triggered concerns in the chipmaking sector over supply crunch concerns, especially as the AI-driven frenzy is in no mood to stop.

Meanwhile, AI kingpin Nvidia Corp NVDA felt the pinch of competition for gaming GPUs as retailers Newegg Commerce, Inc NEGG and Amazon.Com Inc AMZN slashed the prices of its popular RTX 4070 GPUs as AMD launched its $500 RX 7800 XT.

The retailers cut the price of the RTX 4070 by $50 to $550 and the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB price by $50 to $450.

The threat also looms from China's Huawei Technologies and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) amid efforts to build a domestic chip ecosystem, primarily fueled by U.S. semiconductor sanctions on China.

Price Action: AMD shares traded lower by 3.87% at $102.46 on the last check Friday.
