Meta Platforms, Inc META stock is up Thursday as CEO Mark Zuckerberg launched Meta Quest 3.
The session volume reached close to the 100-day average volume of 7.8 million.
Zuckerberg promised the successor to Meta's Quest 2 headset this fall.
Starting at $499, Quest 3 comes with the next-generation Qualcomm Inc QCOM chipset.
Zuckerberg assured to divulge details during its Connect conference on September 27.
It appears to have at least three cameras on the front, to help see the natural world around them while wearing the headset and interacting with apps, CNBC reports.
Meta's announcement comes just before Apple Inc AAPL looks to showcase its mixed reality headset product, Reality Pro, with price points in the ~$3k range at its annual WWDC in Cupertino next week.
In March, Meta slashed the price of Quest Pro to fend off competition from Apple's upcoming MR headset launch.
