"Media giants are prioritizing YouTube, too," the survey report stated, adding, "More than 25 ESPN podcasts feature some kind of video component, collectively garnering 20 million views per month on YouTube." The report cited Mike Foss, vice president of digital production at the sports network.
Other than YouTube, Spotify and Apple, Pandora, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio and SiriusXM were on the list, constituting the preference of 23% of the respondents.
Social media commentator, Matt Navarra, spotted the survey results first.
The late October survey also revealed that nearly a third of Americans favor listening to podcasts with video. In comparison, 26% of the respondents said they prefer podcasts with just audio.
One of the top reasons behind this preference is seeing the hosts' and guests' facial expressions and reactions. Many podcast listeners also said that an accompanying video helps them concentrate better on the podcast.
