After Russia attacked Ukraine with several Iranian Kamikaze drones on Monday, Tehran clarified that it had not provided Moscow with drones to use in its war against Kyiv.
What Happened: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani, during a weekly press conference, said, "The published news about Iran providing Russia with drones has political ambitions, and it's circulated by western sources. We have not provided weaponry to any side of the countries at war," reported Reuters.
This came after Kyiv and Washington accused Iran of supplying drones to the Kremlin. According to the U.S. and allied security officials, Iran is planning to send not only drones but also the first Iranian-made surface-to-surface missiles to Vladimir Putin, reported The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Ukraine's air force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat said it destroyed 37 Russian drones since Sunday evening, around 85-86% of the number involved in the attacks.
"That's quite a good result for the work of our air defenses, and that number will rise in the future," he told a news briefing, reported Reuters.
Putin's army’s attack on Kyiv today came as the second such attack on the war-torn nation’s capital in just a week. Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, confirmed the strikes on Telegram and said they damaged several residential buildings.
