The Dow fell 0.25 percent 18,874.95, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.36 percent to 5,294.50. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 0.11 percent to 2,177.98.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Foreign Money Center Banks: This industry slipped 2.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Credit Suisse Group AG (ADR) (NYSE: CS), which fell 3.6 percent. Credit Suisse shares have dropped 35.39 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 6.20 percent in the same period.
  • Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: This industry declined 1.7 percent by 11:00 am with SunCoke Energy Partners LP (NYSE: SXCP) moving down 4.6 percent. SunCoke Energy Partners shares have jumped 175.29 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 6.20 percent in the same period.
  • Telecom Services - Foreign: The industry dropped 1.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was China Telecom Corporation Limited (ADR) (NYSE: CHA), which declined 2.5 percent. China Telecom shares have dropped 5.54 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 6.20 percent in the same period.
  • Drug Related Products: This industry fell 1.2 percent by 11:00 am ET. Perrigo Company plc (NYSE: PRGO) shares dropped 1.6 percent in today's trading.
