Daimer AG's DDAIF Mercedes-Benz is crushing its German competitor BMW BMWYY in 2016.
The release of September car sales figures saw BMW US down 5.2 percent to 29,413 units. BMW is reeling from a fall off of passenger car sales, falling 17 percent in the month that has seen waning demand for its 3 and 5 series models.
Meanwhile, Mercedez-Benz saw a 3 percent uptick in U.S. sales in September, with 33,075. While the company's C-Class and S-Class models experienced sales declines in the month, its mid level E-Class/CLS models saw an 8 percent increase in September.
From a year-over-year growth perspective, Mercedes-Benz is beating one of its top competitors, with a 1 percent gain on the year, vs. a whopping -8.8% decline in year-to-date sales for BMW.
