GoPro Talks Details Of Karma Drone, But One Analyst Is Concerned About Battery Life

Shares of GoPro Inc GPRO were trading higher by more than 5 percent Monday as the company hosted an event to detail its new products, particularly its new drone product called Karma.

GoPro's event was split into two presentations. The first included the new product unveiling followed by a Q&A session with the management team.

During the product unveiling, GoPro's management team, led by Chairman and CEO Nick Woodman, introduced the Karma drone which will begin selling at $799. Consumers can also buy the drone with its flagship Hero action camera attached for $1,099.

The drone will be compatible with an ecosystem of mounds and the stabilizer is detachable and serves as a grip.

In addition to the drone, Woodman introduced the Hero 5 Session action camera which he described as being "the most durable GoPro ever."

Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, attended the event and Tweeted a few updates, at least one of which should be concerning to investors.

Pachter acknowledged in a Tweet that the Karma does look "slick" and videogamers should be able to figure out how to control the drone immediately. In addition, the price point is "compelling" but the battery life is "only 18 minutes" which "makes me wonder if I want one."
