The Dow fell 0.45 percent to 18,388.28, while the NASDAQ composite index rose 0.01 percent to 5,140.33. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 0.21 percent to 2,161.98.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Auto Parts Wholesale: This industry slipped 2.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Magna International Inc. (USA) MGA, which fell 4.4 percent. Magna is scheduled to announce its Q2 financial results on August 5, 2016.
  • Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: This industry declined 2.3 percent by 11:00 am with SunCoke Energy Inc SXC moving down 12.6 percent. SunCoke Energy posted a wider-than-expected quarterly loss.
  • Sporting Goods Stores: This industry fell 2.1 percent by 11:00 am ET. Cabelas Inc CAB shares dropped 4 percent in today's trading. Cabela's reported Q2 adjusted earnings of $0.59 per share on revenue of $929.9 million.
  • Toy & Hobby Stores: The industry dropped 1.9 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc BBW, which declined 2 percent. Build-A-Bear is expected to post quarterly results on August 4, 2016.
