Twitter Reveals Changes To Discover And Watch Periscope Broadcasts

Twitter Inc TWTR disclosed Thursday that it made changes to the viewing, as well as discovery features on its live streaming app Periscope, starting from July 21 with more functionality available in the coming weeks.

According to the company, fresh features were added to include a "Highlights" feature that presents the most interesting moments automatically from a broadcast, Periscope web embeds within Tweets. The company added that the features offered a more immersive Watch Tab and Global Feed, which autoplays live broadcasts.

Twitter said that Periscope broadcasts could live and play anywhere on the web by embedding a Tweet, which has a link to a Periscope, with the introduction of embeds. The company added that published could have the options to add the rich, compelling content from Periscope broadcasts in their online content with monumental events unfolding on Periscope and the social media. At the same time, viewers could easily discover and watch live and replay content on the web.

Periscope CEO and co-founder, Kayvon Beykpour, commented, "We've seen incredible growth on Periscope during the past year. It's hard to keep up with all of the live content shared by Periscope broadcasters around the world. So we built a way to easily watch automatically generated highlights of each broadcast."

He added, "We've also made it easy for publishers to embed playable broadcasts anywhere on the web. We often see articles reference specific Periscopes with screenshots or manual recordings."
