4 Sports Failures In 2016: An Under Armour Curse?

The past year has been disappointing for Under Armour Inc (NYSE: UA)'s top endorsers.

One of Under Armour's most recognizable brand ambassadors, Steph Curry, led the Golden State Warriors to a historic season but failed to take home the NBA championship.

The Warriors failed to capitalize on a 3-1 series lead and LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers won the city's first major sport title in 52 years.

Curry's performance in the winner-take-all Game 7 wasn't particularly impressive, shooting six for 19 and banking 17 points and four turnovers.

Curry isn't the only all-star Under Armour brand ambassador that won't be doing much celebrating this summer.

Back in January, Peyton Manning led the Denver Broncos to a victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots en route to their Super Bowl win over the Carolina Panthers.

Ironically enough, Manning had to defeat another Under Armour brand ambassador, Carolina Panthers' star quarterback Cam Newton.

Sports fans can make the argument that Under Armour's golf ambassador Jordan Spieth suffered the worst defeat among the entire roster of brand ambassadors.

According to ESPN, Spieth's collapse at the Masters in April was the "most shocking" in all of golf history. Spieth held a five-stroke lead in the 2016 Masters but suffered an epic breakdown, led by a quadruple-bogey at the 12th hole.
