Could Donald Trump Start His Own News Station?

Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Donald Trump is a TV personality that drives ratings for news channels.

According to a report from Vanity Fair, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is looking to leverage his on-air popularity and create his own media platform and cable channel.

Vanity Fair, citing "several people briefed on the discussions," stated Trump is examining the possibility of launching a "mini-media conglomerate" to complement his already existing TV-production business, Trump Productions LLC.

Trump was said to be bothered by cable networks and media organizations who achieve record ratings from his appearances. This has led Trump to believe he could successfully monetize his popularity through his own network.

Trump even tasked his daughter, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner (who owns The New York Observer) to look into the proposal.

"Win or lose, we are onto something here," the source was quoted as saying. "We've triggered a base of the population that hasn't had a voice in a long time."

A Trump spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, denied that the topic of creating a news network or other media outlets even occurred in the first place.

"There is absolutely no truth to this whatsoever," she told Vanity Fair. "This hasn't been even uttered. Not even thought about."
