AMC's import "The Night Manager," falls into that category, as last week's series premiere has scored the best Live + 3 jump in the history of the channel. The debut of episode has a total viewership of 1.6 million and 455,000 coming from the key 18–49 demo.
Those numbers represent a jump of 70 percent in viewers, 72 percent leap in the 18–49 count and a 73 percent rise when looking at the 25–43 demo. By comparison, "Better Call Saul's" debut last year saw jumps in the 40 percent range and the launch of "Fear The Walking Dead," saw boosts in the 30 percent range.
Investors had been watching the debut carefully, as it represents the first time AMC has looked to program scripted series on Tuesday nights. This follows the successful expansion from Sundays to Mondays, which was done with "Saul" and now the returning "Turn: Washington's Spies."
Based on the John le Carré novel, the series' first aired across the pond to great acclaim and carved out a nice niche Stateside. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston co-star along with Olivia Coleman.
The David Schwimmer/Jim Sturgess restaurant drama "Feed The Beast," will take over the Tuesday's at 10 p.m. EST slot upon "Manager's" conclusion next month.
