LRAD Corp
LRAD
disclosed that it has been awarded a $490,000 contract by a Southeast Asian Coast Guard agency. The company stated that the contract was for its 1000Xi systems and accessories and scheduled for delivery in the current year. LRAD pointed out that this was the latest order from a country that is getting equipped with homeland security and defense forces with its long range communications capabilities. The company's President and CEO, Tom Brown, said that "Many nations are experiencing escalating territorial water incursions and homeland security threats. LRAD's attention commanding warning tones and voice broadcasts determine the intent of boats not responding to radio calls, establish large standoff zones around Coast Guard vessels, and provide enhanced communication during coastal defense operations." He went on to add that "LRAD systems ensure commands and instructions in any language are clearly delivered, heard and understood over wind, engine and background noise." The company indicated that its LRAD systems were in use in over 70 countries in the world and were the only acoustic hailing devices that meet all U.S. Military requirements. Shares of the company traded down by 1.5% on Thursday.
