Virgin America's March Load Factor Slips 40 Bps; But RPM Rises

Virgin America Inc VA announced in a press statement its passenger load factor slipped 40 basis points to 83.8 percent in March from 84.2 percent in the previous year month. However, its revenue passenger miles (RPM) advanced 14.6 percent from the year earlier month. Similarly, available seat miles (ASM) also grew 15.1 percent in March, according to the company.

Virgin America said its onboard passengers also witnessed 14.9 percent growth in March.

For the year-to-date, the company's passenger load factor remained same at 80.1 percent. While RPM jumped 15.9 percent, ASM advanced 15.8 percent from the previous year period. Its onboard passengers also recorded 16 percent growth in the first three-month period. It could also be taken as a first quarter data.

On Monday, shares of the company traded higher by 0.2 percent.
