Private equity firm Apollo Global Management LLC APO is said to be close to acquiring Fresh Market Inc TFM for $28.50 per share in cash, according to a report from Reuters late Friday. The deal, valued at more than $1.3 billion, could be announced as early as Monday, the sources said. Fresh Market announced on October 20 it had retained JP Morgan Chase to assist in a review of strategic options, including the potential sale of the company. Fresh Market closed at $22.98 on Friday, up 3.42%. Hearing Unconfirmed Market Chatter Sempra Could Bid for Columbia Pipeline The Rumor:
Shares of Columbia Pipeline Group, Inc. CPGX rose again Friday, this time on uncomfirmed market chatter of a potential bid from Sempra Energy Corp. SE. On Thursday, Dow Jones reported that TransCanada Corp.TRP was be in takeover talks with Columbia Pipeline. Columbia Pipeline closed at $22.96 on Friday, up 7.14%. DC People's Counsel Rejects Latest Pepco-Excelon Merger Proposal The Merger Rejection:
The DC People's Counsel on Friday, rejected the latest proposal to enable Pepco POM and Excelon EXC to merge. Sandra Mattavous-Frye said the compromise did not do enough to protect Washington's low-income residents who struggle to pay their electric bills. Pepco closed at $22.07 on Friday down 9%. Excelon shares closed flat, at $34.73.
