8 Stocks Moving On Monday's After-Hours Trading Session

Shares of Baxalta Inc BXLT gained 5.56 percent on Monday trading, and continued to surge in after-hours – about 0.7 percent, on several news, including reports that Shire PLC (ADR) SHPG is interested in acquiring the company for $46.50 to $48 a share. On the other hand, shares of Shire PLC (ADR) SHPG lost 3.26 percent during the day and an extra 0.25 percent in after-hours trading.

Another piece of news moving Baxalta’s stock was an agreement to pay Danish SymphogenA/S up to $1.6 billion “for the rights to co-develop six experimental cancer drugs,” a Wall Street Journal article informed.

Retailers like Kohl's Corporation KSS and Macy's, Inc. M were also tumbling on Monday afternoon. Since the bell rang, the stocks fell almost 4 percent and 2.35 percent, respectively. The moves seemed nothing but a correction of the 4.03 percent and 2.4 percent gains that the stocks had correspondingly experienced over a day in which all major U.S. stock indexes plummeted.

Back to gainers, mid cap independent energy company Apache Corporation APA was up more than 1 percent since the market closed, driven by its inclusion in GlobalData’s latest report on the “Top 20 North America Independent Exploration and Production Companies,” which provides investors with financial and operational fundamental analysis and benchmarking for the industry in 2015.

Other stocks moving on Monday’s after-hours trading session included:

• Under Armour Inc UA, up about 0.75 percent
• Best Buy Co Inc BBY, up roughly 0.6 percent
• Cempra Inc CEMP, up more than 7 percent
