The Dow rose 0.94 percent to 17,692.28, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.98 percent to 5,090.46. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index surged 0.88 percent to 2,074.56.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Silver: This industry declined 1.4 percent by 11:00 am with Great Panther Silver Ltd (NYSE: GPL) moving down 2 percent. Great Panther Silver's trailing-twelve-month ROE is -44.69 percent.

Publishing - Books: The industry dropped 1.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Pearson PLC (ADR) (NYSE: PSO), which declined 2.4 percent. Pearson's PEG ratio is -6.11.

Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry slipped 0.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was GoPro Inc (NASDAQ: GPRO), which fell 0.8 percent. GoPro shares have declined 72.60 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has slipped 1.15 percent in the same period.

Building Materials Wholesale: This industry fell 0.5 percent by 11:00 am ET. Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: LPX) shares dropped 0.9 percent in today's trading.
