Dow Chemical Co.DOW and DuPont Co. DD are in advanced merger talks, according to sources as reported by the Wall Street Journal late Tuesday. The sources said a deal could be announced by Thursday. Following the merger, the combined company would be split into three separate public companies. DuPont rose almost 12% Wednesday, closing at $74.49, while Dow Chemical also rose 12%, closing at $56.97. ChemChina Could Bid $44B in Cash for Syngenta The Rumor:
Syngenta AG SYT shares surged higher Wednesday, on a report from Benzinga, that China National Chemical Corp, or ChemChina, is said to be considering a purchase of Syngenta, in a deal that could be valued at $44 billion, according to sources. A deal could be announced by Friday. Syngenta shares initially rose on report of a potential merger between between Dow Chemical Co DOW and EI Du Pont De Nemours And Co DD. Syngenta told Benzinga in an email that it "has no comments to make" on the matter, while ChemChina could not be immediately reached for comment. Syngenta rose 7.29% Wednesday, closing at $78.10. Technip Exploring Sale, Held Talks with FMC Technologies The Rumor:
France's Technip TKPPY is said to be considering a sale and has had discussions with FMC Technologies Inc FTI regarding a potential merger, according to sources, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday. The sources say Technip has held talks with other potential buyers and there is no deal in place. Representatives of FMC Technologies and Technip did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FMC Technologies closed at $31.43 Wednesday, up 2.34%.
