The following are the M&A deals, rumors and chatter circulating on Wall Street for Thursday December 3, 2015: Avon in Advanced Talks to Sell North American Business, Equity Stake to Cerberus The Rumor:
Avon Products Inc. AVP traded as high as $4.17 Thursday, on a report from the Wall Street Journal, that Avon Products Inc. is nearing a deal with private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management to sell its North American business to Cerberus, according to sources. Cerberus reportedly would make a minority investment in Avon and would become Avon's biggest shareholder. The report also mentioned that an activist group, which includes Barington Capital and NuOrion Partners, now has a 3% stake in Avon. NuOrion confirmed to Benzinga on Thursday, that the stake is 2.8% the group is seeking to cut costs and replace the CEO. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Oprah Winfrey denied that she had taken a stake in the strugling beauty products marketer. Avon closed at $3.99 on Thursday, up 7%. Devon Energy in Talks to Acquire Felix Energy for ~$2B The Rumor:
Devon Energy Corp DVN is in said to be in talks to acquire Felix Energy for approximately $2 billion, according to sources as reported by Reuters on Thursday. Majority owner, EnCap Investments LP, has received an offer of cash and stock from Devon, the sources said. Devon fell 5.58% Thursday, closing at $41.10. Motorola to Acquire Airwave for $1.2B The Deal:
Motorola Solutions MSI and Airwave announced Thursday, that they have agreed Motorola Solutions will acquire Airwave for approximately $1.2 billion, with an expected net cash payment of about $1 billion, based on purchase price adjustments and cash in the business. The deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2016. Motorola Solutions closed at $71.08 Thursday, down 1%.
