At 10:30 am, the Dow declined 1.34 percent to 16,054.31, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 1.32 percent to 1,898.42 and the NASDAQ composite index fell 1.25 percent to 4,569.56.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

Silver: This industry jumped 5.2 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA)(NYSE: SLW), which rose 6.8 percent. Silver futures gained 3.61 percent to trade at $15.04 an ounce.

Semiconductor- Memory Chips: This industry rose 4.3 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MU), which gained 5.4 percent. Micron reported better-than-expected earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter.

Internet Service Providers: This industry moved up 2.3 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Spark Networks Inc (NYSE: LOV), which rose 0.3 percent. Spark Networks reported Q3 subscriber metrics. Total average paying subscribers slipped 23.5 percent to 197,109.

Major Integrated Oil & Gas: The industry gained 1.9 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was BP plc (ADR) (NYSE: BP), which gained 2.6 percent. BP shares have dipped 27.49 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has slipped 2.24 percent in the same period.
