Shares of Pharmacyclics Inc. PCYC surged sharply higher Wednesday on a report from Bloomberg that the company was considering a sale. Johnson & Johnson JNJ and Novartis AG NVS are among the companies who have expressed interest, according to sources. Shares of the Spokespersons for Pharmacyclics and J&J declined comment. A Novartis spokesperson was unavailable for comment. Pharmacyclics shares gained more almost 17% Wednesday, closing at $220.22. Hearing Statoil May Bid for EOG The Rumor:
Shares of EOG Resources, Inc.EOG rose Wednesday, on unconfirmed market chatter of a potential bid from Norway's Statoil ASA STO. According to sources, the offer is in the $107 to $109 per share range. Spokespersons for EOG and Statoil were not available for comment. EOG shares closed Wednesday at $93.03, a gain of 1.5%. Hewlett-Packard Said to be in Talks to Acquire Aruba Networks The Rumor:
Shares of Aruba Networks, Inc. ARUN spiked sharply higher Wednesday, on a report from Bloomberg that the company was in talks to be acquired by Hewlett-Packard Company HPQ. Aruba Networks shares were briefly halted on a circuit-breaker following the report. A spokesperson for HP declined comment. An Aruba Networks spokesperson was not available for comment. Shares of Ruckus Wireless, Inc. RKUS and Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. UBNT also spiked higher on the rumor. Aruba Networks shares rose 21% Wednesday, closing at $22.24. Avago to Acquire Emulex for $8/Share in Cash The Deal:
Avago Technologies Limited AVGO and Emulex Corporation ELX announced Wednesday, that Avago will acquire Emulex in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $606 million. A subsidiary of Avago will commence a tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of Emulex common stock for $8 per share in cash. The transaction is expected to close in H2 of Avago's FY ending November 1, 2015. Emulex shares closed at $6.36 Wednesday, and traded up 24% after-hours, following the acquisition announcement.
